Paul Davidson MD, one of the nation’s original board-recognized endocrinologists, has worked with diabetes for 42 years. Diabetes experts in Minnesota, West Virginia, University of Pennsylvania, and Emory trained him, and he has in turn trained others at West Virginia University and Emory. He has experience in bench and clinical research, medical editing and writing, establishing, administrating, and teaching recurring seminars to help persons with diabetes maintain themselves in safe blood glucose target ranges.

His research on insulin and triglyceride measurement in 1965 was the basis for the now widely recognized insulin resistance syndrome. Because of his involvement in a large 1960-1970′s research study (UGDP); he became an early advocate of intensive patient education and aggressive management of diabetes for tight blood glucose control. He developed innovative management systems, which have been published and are now used worldwide. One such protocol was developed for Glucommander, a computerized system for IV insulin administration, developed with Dr. Dennis Steed.

He is the founder and senior member of the 20 year old and largest diabetes practice in Southeastern United States. Atlanta Diabetes Associates. He is the medical director with the longest tenure of the nation-wide, 100 site Diabetes Treatment Centers of America. He is one of ten physicians in the US who has expertise in the use of the implanted insulin pump. In the past few years he has collected over 2200 records of insulin pump management of diabetes and from this he has evolved a new system of normal blood glucose diabetes management, patented as PumpMaster.
